The goal of Marriage or Couples counseling is to help individuals create a loving and secure relationship.  A loving partnership is based on a foundation of trust, respect and commitment.  My counseling helps couples to rebuild their foundation.  I have worked over 30 years as a licensed marriage and family therapist in Georgia.   For the past 18 years I have focused solely on marriage and couples counseling.  My practice is diversified with ages ranging from 20s to their 80s.  I have treated couples from many varied religions and cultures.   My goal is to help individuals change their behavior toward each other to save their relationship and create a stronger union.

You may have found me on the internet or have been referred to me directly.  In either case, please take advantage of my free introduction.  This introduction can give you a sense of my competency, and whether both partners feel comfortable with me before a commitment to therapy.  It usually lasts 10 to 20 minutes, sometimes a little longer.  Clients have found it very helpful.

Marital Priorities.      A list of characteristics couples should strive for to strengthen their relationship.

Books.    This is a list of books that I recommend for couples wanting to improve their relationships.  Each book has a brief description.

Recovery from an Affair    A summary of my approach to counseling couples where there has been an affair.

Common Problems

Other issues include lack of sexual intimacy, better coparenting, blended family, loss of a family member, when one or both partners have depression or anxiety, elder care, and substance abuse problems.

Premarital Counseling

I particular enjoy premarital counseling.  The counseling consists of six sessions with outside work between sessions.  My goal is to help the couple set a foundation for their marriage.  I work with first married as well as previously married couples.

Teletherapy

Teletherapy has enabled me to have a much broader reach, seeing clients all over Georgia.  I offer teletherapy through Doxy.me which is an encrypted medical platform to insure privacy. With the onset of the Covid epidemic, I have done marriage and couples counseling using teletherapy for five years.  I was able to establish intimate and productive sessions over the internet.   Couples have success when both individuals are committed to working hard to change their attitudes and behavior toward each other.

Costs

The cost is $100 a session.  Therapy in most cases is 10 to 20 sessions over 6 months.  Premarital counseling is usually 6 to 12 sessions.  The harder you work at home the less time with me.  As the couple progresses, we move from weekly sessions to every other week.  I accept credit cards and checks for payment.  Many couples use me as an out of network provider on their health insurance.

By reading this page, it is clear that you have already begun to take steps to help yourself and your family.  Again, if you would like further information on me or my practice, please select my personal page in the index.  I hope this information will serve you well.
